Help with CB using HP laptop
Hi all I have currently been camming for almost a year. I used my phone at first which was such a hassle. I then got an HP Chromebook and it was decent, but it got broke so in November of last year I bought an HP stream 14. I thought since it literally has the word stream in it that it would be good for camming. It is not. I contacted HP about it and they told me to optimize it and run a performance check I did both neither helped and they told me basically that is all they can do. Now to my question, lately my streams have been super laggy if multiple tips come in at one time it freaks out and kicks me out of my room or crashes my site as some of you know this is a big problem that I am trying desperately to figure out. Is my setup not capable of handling me streaming live? Could I use the laptop I have with obs? Would that help at all? I also want to mention that even just working on my menu or checking email or simple things like that if you try to do to much on this laptop at once it get very very slow. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. TIA -Jamie
Hey there, It could be that it doesn't have enough RAM or hard drive to be able to efficiently run streaming services, I started with a smaller computer with around 64gb of hard drive and ran into the same problem as you. Could also just be low graphics card or low or a crappy processor but from what I've read they have an i7 intel so it probably isn't the latter. Could it be low on storage? I'm not super smart with technology so this is just from experience on my end

Thanks for your reply it is def somewhere to start! Is there a way of getting more storage for it because it def does not have enough space?
Hiya. Unfortunately the HP stream 14 processor will struggle with multitasking or video encoding it only has 4GB DDR4 (non-upgradable) it has Very limited storage. The processor and RAM are not powerful enough for smooth live streaming, especially at 1080p or with additional software like OBS Studio. At the very basic streaming at 720p directly through a browser, but it will struggle with OBS, multitasking, or integrating additional hardware like external webcams or microphones. For streaming on platforms, it’s better to invest in a mid-range laptop with at least an Intel i5/Ryzen 5 CPU, 8GB RAM, and a Full HD screen. You can Use your phone for streaming for the time being.
