What do the different username colors mean?
The color of usernames in chat indicates the user status or how many tokens they have tipped:
- Orange names are broadcasters
- Red names are moderators
- Green names are fan club members
- Dark Purple names have tipped at least 1000 tokens in the past 2 weeks
- Light Purple names have tipped at least 250 tokens in the past 2 weeks
- Dark Blue names have tipped at least 50 tokens in the past 2 weeks
- Light Blue names own or have purchased tokens
- Grey names have no tokens
What is a moderator and should I have one?
A moderator is a Chaturbate user who works alongside the cam model to ensure a quality broadcast for them as well as the viewers. Chaturbate models can assign any user to be a moderator, and can also set expiration dates for mod privileges. Moderators can communicate directly with the broadcaster, encourage viewers to tip in order to reach a goal, give insight to viewers should a problem with the broadcast arise, take care of unwanted comments, and much more. Essentially, they provide assistance for a seamless show and make it easier for you to focus on what you are doing.
If you have just started out on Chaturbate, don’t rush to pick a moderator or make someone a moderator just because they ask. Get to know community members and even check out moderators in other rooms. Once you find someone you trust, work with them to let them know what is and is not okay in your room and how you would like anyone getting out of line to be handled.
While there are definite benefits to having a moderator, it is important to remember that you are the boss. If you become displeased with your moderator, you can remove them at any time. Just like there are pushy and rude viewers, this will happen with mods and you should feel comfortable reporting them to Chaturbate support.
What are Chaturbate Apps and Bots?
Apps & Bots are created by other Chaturbate members and allow cam models to customize their chat room experience. You can set goals, automate chat notices, play games with your viewers, automatically moderate chat, and much more. This not only makes your chat room more exciting but makes it easier to communicate with your viewers.
You can run one App and up to 3 Bots at the same time in your room. The difference between Apps and Bots is that Apps have more functionality and can control who can see your stream (such as ticket shows) and the content in the App panel below your broadcast. Chaturbate bots are like your personal assistants. A Chaturbate bot usually posts automated notifications across your chatroom, it can also do minor automated moderations. You can access Chaturbate Apps and Bots by going to “Broadcast Yourself” and then clicking on the “Apps & Bots” tab.
