Please introduce yourself to Cam101! What’s your name, where are you from, and what are your pronouns?
Hi everyone, I am Leya Tanit (She/Her), the founder and CEO of Pineapple Support. Based on the island of Ibiza, I am originally from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, a small city in the North East of England
When did you enter the adult industry and what has your journey looked like?
My journey into the adult industry began at 18 years old when I began stripping in the first strip club in Newcastle. Over the last 22 years my career has grown and changed organically with time spent running an online boutique selling BDSM equipment, providing services as a professional Dominatrix, working as a model and content creator and even trying my hand at cam work - this was by far the toughest for me personally, to today running the day to day and leading the team for Pineapple Support
For those who are unfamiliar with Pineapple Support, could you please give our members a brief introduction?
Pineapple Support is a non profit organization that provides mental health care and emotional support to folks working in the online adult entertainment industry. We provide free and low cost therapy as well as support groups, workshops, educational events, retreats, corporate trainings and also have therapists available at many of the larger adult conferences.
As we are currently celebrating Pride month, what sort of resources does Pineapple Support offer to LGBTQ+ performers?
All Pineapple Support resources are available to LGBTQ+ performers, with 81% of our therapists specialising in LGBTQ+ related concerns. Over 75% of Pineapple Support clients are members of the LGBTQ+ community, so we take particular care and pride in ensuring we are a safe space for personal growth and healing.
What does Pride mean to you? How do you plan on celebrating this Pride month?
Pride is a time not only for celebration but to raise our voices in support of LGBTQ+ rights. It is a time to be proud of how far society has moved forward in their views and to acknowledge all that has yet to be achieved.
This year I traveled to Tel Aviv to celebrate Pride week, it was one of the most incredible experiences and is set to become an annual trip. Fortunately I arrived home just in time to parade the streets of Ibiza for the island’s Pride celebrations, so was able to experience double the fun.
How do you think the camming industry can become more inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ+ performers?
The adult and camming community have always been leaps ahead of general society with inclusivity of communities and I have seen over last last 1-2 years a drastic change in the way camming sites are working to ensure LGBTQ+ folks are heard and their needs met and understood. There is still some way to go and we need to keep learning, listening and rectifying mistakes.
